PIN and Security
Q. What is my PIN (Personal Identification Number)?
» answer
When you get your travelmaker currency card, the PIN will be enclosed in the pack. Your card is active from the moment you complete the transaction, therefore make sure you sign the card immediately. Memorise your PIN before destroying the written confirmation for security purposes.
If you wish to change your PIN to something more memorable, you can do this at most UK ATM displaying the MasterCard Acceptance Mark.
If your card holds a euro or U.S dollar balance, the ATM may show a message saying “you may be charged for this transaction, do you wish to proceed?” You must select “Yes” in order to proceed and successfully change your PIN. You will not be charged for changing your PIN.
Please make sure that you memorise your PIN and never write it down.

Spending on your card
If you are at an ATM or somewhere where the bill is presented in pounds, not the local currency (i.e. euros or dollars), ask to pay in the local currency, not sterling. This is a new process called Dynamic Currency Conversion, or DCC. The merchant or retailer invites you to pay in sterling and then performs the exchange at an unfavourable rate which costs you money. Remember to check the payment terminal, if the amount is shown in sterling, ask that it is changed.
Q. Where can I use my travelmaker currency card?
» answer
You can use your travelmaker card at millions of outlets and ATMs worldwide wherever you see the MasterCard Acceptance Mark.
Q. What if my card is declined?
» answer
If the retailer or ATM accepts MasterCard, your card should only be declined if you do not have sufficient funds on the card to cover the purchase or withdrawal. You can check your available balance online in our ‘My Account’ area. Just visit
www.travelmakercards.com Or call +44 207201 0552
Q. What should I do if I am given the option to pay in sterling rather than the currency on my card?
» answer
When you are withdrawing cash from an ATM or making a purchase and you are offered the option to pay in sterling or the local currency (i.e. euros or dollars), you should choose to pay in the local currency. Retailers are using a new process called Dynamic Currency Conversion, or DCC to perform the exchange at an unfavourable rate which costs you money as you are, in effect, paying for two different exchanges. Remember to check the payment terminal, if the amount is shown in sterling, ask that it is changed.
